I'm Zodiac-ed out

I’m convinced that we get things like the Gary Francis Poste debacle (which faded away pretty fast, even faster than the silly George Hodel theory) every few years for the same reason we get some Beatles re-release or some new thing about Charles Manson: to keep the flame burning. To keep the possibility of newer generations finding out about the thing in question. I mean, when I read the actual “decoded” Gary Francis Poste “messages,” they were kind of cool and creepy, but also hideously unlikely to be clues to anything (and a couple years ago, it was determined that a skull found by the side of the road somewhere was that of Donna Lass, the nurse believed to be not only a Zodiac victim, but the one the Poste messages were referring to) so there’s that.

I mean, the messages are creepy and all, but what does “Collect telephone trunk call” or “icee body” mean?

I still love the movie though and watch it every year, counting it as probably my third favorite film, all-time. But it doesn’t surprise me if new “developments” in the Zodiac case just turn out to be more damn red flags. Of course if they can identify the Boy In The Box after 68 years, maybe they really will crack the damn thing. But I’ve been over those clues and such a zillion times. Ditto for Columbine and Polybius, the two other “mysteries” I was obsessed with. Time to move on, I guess.

I almost read “Kaczynski” as “Cruz” there for awhile.
