I may have brushed past the Santa Rosa guy in Robert Graysmith’s original 1986 Zodiac book, or maybe in Zodiac Unmasked–I just don’t particularly remember it. Zodiac Unmasked went off on some bizarre guessing games about the string of nonsense letters at the end of that first Zodiac letter, the one that actually got solved back in the day. Graysmith thought it was some hippie guy being talked about, but a lot of it seemed like silly guesswork, the kind of stuff that’s given lots of true crime writing a bad name.
I didn’t word that “lurid” bit very well. But yes Zodiac is better known because of the letters and such and not being caught. DeAngelo is somewhat well known but I’d never heard of Corll once before getting into true crime, where I learned he may have had a bizarre tie to Gacy. You’d think Corll would be better known but he’s not. Then again I live in Kansas but had never heard of BTK before Dennis Rader got his dumb old ass caught with that stupid computer disk!
GG Allin also had a small penis. Which he showed everybody.
