If there are John Ford movies you haven’t seen that I think you should prioritize, they probably aren’t the ones with Stepin Fetchit in them, tbh.
As far as black comics accommodating white audience’s stereotypical views of black people, Chris Rock’s and Stepin Fetchit are opposite polls.
Hopefully I like The Shinning more than you did.
Others I’m especially interested in reading:
The Stand - I used to think this was a “hell no” due to its lenght, but King is such an easy read that you can cut the page counts in half when gauging what you’re committing yourself to.
The Dark Tower I: The Gunslinger -and maybe more, but I’m not concerned about starting the series without wanting to finish it.
11/22/63
Rage - because it’s the forbidden fruit.
The short story collections, especially Night Shift and Different Seasons.
I’ve already read parts of Skeleton Crew, including The Mist (which I liked, but I haven’t seen the movie), The Monkey (which I don’t remember deserving a movie, but it recently got one), and Gramma (which was made into a Harlan Ellison scripted Twilight Zone adaptation).
My junior high English teacher thought that Eye of the Dragon was the only Stephen King that belonged on her classroom bookshelf, but nobody seems to talk about that one, so I’m kind of curious.
I like the Dead Zone movie. I like Christine too, but it doesn’t make me want to read the book.
I didn’t think The Green Mile was too long when I saw it (several time) and I remember other people liking it. I remember you saying it was too long and someone else here calling it “bad prison movie Oscar bait.” It has an 8.6 on IMDB, putting it below The Shawshank Redemption and above The Shining as the highest rated Stephen King feature film.
I don’t know what The Talisman’s reputation is but I’m interested in reading Peter Straub’s Koko.
