Aside from The Redneck Manifesto (which I’ve never read and never intend to) that final issue of his early 90s zine is his most infamous and gained him national notoriety overnight. This charming little essay in particular:

Meh. He’s trying way too hard and the “ironic” satire is way too obvious, but remember this was 1994. The world had yet to see 4chan, Portal of Evil, and whatever shitposting sites kids use these days. Trolling as we know it hadn’t been invented yet. People were actually shocked enuff to see outraged opinion columns in nationally syndicated newspapers like the NY Times railing against the moral menace of Jim Goad. I mean, the controversy over American Psycho and Doom in 1991 seems really quaint now when there’s far more violent stuff all over the internet.
