I can imagine people getting riled over that in 1994, but only because it’s basically the same sentence differently worded about 25 times. If I wanted something like that, I’d either listen to Anal Cunt’s far funnier “Women Nature’s Punching Bag” (which is only 35 seconds long or so) or go get alone of Dave “Cerebus The Aardvark” Sim’s stupid incel rants that someone posted here, where he said that a penis is a form and a vagina is a void, so that women are “stealing light” from men. Or I could just watch Denis Vileneuve’s Polytechnique, his black and white 2009 French language dramatization of the 1989 Ecole Polytechnique massacre where a virginal dipshit named Marc Lepine shot a bunch of women at this trade school. And as Tabs pointed out that background is hilarious.
American Pyscho, for all its one-note monotony (and while I still like both the book and the movie, it’s not particularly elucidating to find out that Bret Easton Ellis is STILL trying to maintain his fame by revisiting the same “vapid spoiled rich kids in the 1980s” well over and over and over again, as evident from his new FX series The Shards which I keep seeing ads for everywhere) does still have some legitimately sick stuff in it–I doubt any movie version would have had the nerve to film the bit with the pet rat. DOOM…well, that was just silly violence for the kids. But yeah, thinking about 1993, when parents were mortified by Mortal Kombat, Beavis & Butthead, DOOM and the dumb-ass barely-literate 21 year old Snoop Dogg, being an “edgy time,” is something I never tire of explaining to young people that I meet today.
