So far it’s my favorite of hers (I just couldn’t get into TLHOD). Perhaps communism (anarcho-syndicalism, more precisely) vs. capitalism is a much more interesting theme to me than non binary gender issues. It’s easily one of top ten sci fi novels of all time IMAO - the world-building is very well constructed. Of course its major flaw as a novel that she invests so much in creating two realistic worlds that the plot and characterization are an afterthought. And if you have little patience for long passages expounding on political/philosophical concepts, then this isn’t for you. For the most part it isn’t too preachy like The World is a Forest, but the arguments between characters and descriptions of the two rival worlds give fair balance to the drawbacks of both unrestrained capitalism and communal socialism. I forget who here said it was their favorite novel of all time? It’s a good antidote to Atlas Shrugged at least.
