Index > Nonagon Infinity > Diversity is an easy 5/5 for the band as a whole

I've always understood "adequacy" as "pulling off what you're aiming for"

Examples from his ratings

Rolling Stones

Adequacy: 5/5. These guys always knew what they were doing. Okay, except on Dirty Work

Zombies

Adequacy: 3/5. I can’t disregard their pathetic attempts at “rocking out”, can I?

Janis Joplin:

Adequacy: 4/5. Sometimes maybe Janis takes on a far more portentous role than should be allowed, but only sometimes.

Emerson, Lake, and Palmer:

Adequacy: 3/5. If not for the amazing technical efficiency, this rating would be lower, but the band’s skills really justify the pomp most of the time.

Pink Floyd:

Adequacy: 4/5. Too often, the simplicity of the music is incompatible with the ‘grandiosity’ of the message.

I only cherry picked these examples to support my notion of what I thought he meant in the sense that most of the blurbs that I just looked at and rejected didn’t mean much without more context. Examples:

Moody Blues

Adequacy: 2/5. Anybody wants to argue? Get me Mr Graeme Edge for personal execution.

AC/DC

Adequacy: 5/5. They virtually embody the goddamn notion.
