I just sort of didn’t feel like completing his catalogue past 1984. Maybe someday. I did not like the songs from The Rising that I heard very much, though I guess he deserves points for NOT making a stupid, embarrassing album about 9/11. Has Bruce appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone at least four times this year yet mmmmmmmmm?
Heh, Todd Rundgren saw Bat Out Of Hell as a Springsteen parody. As for the rest of Meat Loaf’s career, I thought it had to do with him being mostly only vocal talent, he was a good singer but I thought it was people like Steinman and Rundgren and the E Street Band people playing the instruments that Mr. Loaf couldn’t have done without.
“But if that’s what brings him joy then so be it” - I definitely think it’s at least in part an OCD thing. I don’t know who all is reading his new site but somebody’s got to, and if nobody were reading it, I bet he’d still write as much as possible. I’m remembering Derrick’s nasty words - “I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again–there’s a definite connection between web reviewing and mental problems”
I bet George would have been lukewarm on Phish just like he was lukewarm on the Grateful Dead.
