Eh… I don’t think we’re going to agree on this here, and like I said, I just totally don’t have the time anymore to get into lengthy web 1.0 arguments, since I have a proper career, partner (not quite wife but in all but name), mortgage… etc. Some like Trump, some don’t, and that’s fine.

One point I would make is that I don’t really agree with the belief that the USA is an “invented” country as opposed to a nation. The USA was founded by 2 primary cultural/ethnic groups, “tribes” even, and it’s declaration of independence and constitution are absolutely founded on their cultural values. Those groups were English puritans and Scottish presbyterians. Having mass immigration of Muslims (or whoever else) is not natural to the cultural makeup of the country. My opinion… and the opinion of many others.

Sure, you’ve had millions of immigrants, especially over the past 150 years, from other ethnic groups (German, Italian, Russia, Polish, Irish, French, Chinese, etc etc)… and of course the African-American ex-slaves. But these people absolutely adopted the culture of the 2 founding groups, in many cases even changing their surnames and abandoning their old cultures for their new “American” one. Today’s immigrants tend not to do that.

Thanks for the welcome back, bro. I won’t have as much time to dedicate to babble shenanigans as I did 20 years ago, but that’s life I guess.

Now we just need Sidebottom, Derrick Stuart, and Roland Fraztl to turn up.

Hopefully Andrew R has found his playstation memory card by now.
