To Heaven and Earth, your posts are treated as Straw Dogs

Thanks for reminding me of Harmony Korine’s existence. Haven’t heard much from that guy this Millennium, have we? Or his blonde girlfriend. Shock value is an easy way to jumpstart your career but it’s not a viable long term model, especially if like most edgy shock artists you have little else to offer. Gummo and Kids were interesting to watch once, especially for the white trash gross out factor in Gummo, but why would I want to rewatch them? Gummo is the cinematic equivalent of a GG Allin album.

Have you seen the 2010 remake of Straw Dogs? Don’t. Funnily enough the most offensive aspect of that one isn’t the rape or the violence or the terrible acting, but how it’s possibly the most clueless and least authentic portrayal of the American South in any film I’ve seen. Believe it or not, credit card technology has reached Mississippi, contrary to what the film tells you. You’d think Southerners were a long lost tribe of undiscovered New Guinea tribesmen. Who listen to Lynyrd Skynyrd and Molly Hatchet (nothing cliched about the music choices in this flick!).

Wes Anderson’s best movie was Bottle Rocket. I’m not going to defend my opinion because I literally haven’t seen it or Rushmore since the 1990s.

I rewatched Clerks about a decade ago. Yep....has not held up. None of K. Smith’s films have.

The Ring was pretty silly. Hard to take seriously even by horror standards.
