I hated that book. On The Road I can stand, but the only other Kerouac book I liked was Big Sur. He sounds like a whiny teenager in Dharma Bums and he was like 33 when he wrote it. And hell, I always thought the moral of On The Road was kinda conservative and self-defeating in the first place, wasn’t it? (A young man being so desperate for heroes in a time of conformity ends up seeing a skunk like Neal Cassady as a rebel)
