Early music

I got this month’s gummies and I’ve had a REALLY interesting time listening to music this evening. I fucked around a bit before finding my album of Léonin and Pérotin (fl. turn of 13th century, France), Music for Notre-Dame Cathedral, and listened to the Viderunt omnes organa bookended by the plainchant. I literally gained a new perspective – I’m using “literally” where I mean “figuratively” because it’s more natural than fumbling for a replacement and I don’t feel dirty for doing it, so we may as well move on from this semantic controversy – on all succeeding music. So I played the following:

Plainchant - Viderunt omnes
Léonin - three organa a 2 on “Viderunt omnes”
Pérotin - organum a 4 on “Viderunt omnes”
Plainchant - Viderunt omnes
Dufay - “St. Anthony of Padua” mass
Ockeghem - Missa prolationum
Josquin des Pres - Memor esto verbi tui
Plainchant: Benedicta es
Palestrina - Motet “Benedicta es”
Palestrina - “Benedicta es” mass
Monteverdi - Magnificat
Schütz - Deutsches Magnificat
Bach - “Kyrie” from the B-minor mass
Haydn - “Benedictus” from the Orgelsolo mass
Mozart - Sequence from Requiem
Beethoven - Missa solemnis
Liszt - Missa choralis
Bruckner - Te Deum
Vaughan Williams - Mass in G minor

Sometimes you really have a day/night that reminds you just why you consume cannabinoids and today was it. Drink sangria in the park, then later when it goes dark we go home.
