Kosovo

My very first political opinions were in 1998 with the Monica Lewinsky scandal and the intervention in Kosovo, followed soon thereafter by Elián González. I was 12 years old and firmly anti-Clinton, and I remember thinking Kosovo could fight their own damn war. It wasn’t Srebenica out there.
Fast forward to 2026 and Kosovo is an independent state. Kosovo consists of a rocky field on a hillock with two or three goats. What kind of economy are you supposed to extract from that sufficient to support a modern administrative state? Kosovo exists because the European countries prop it up; sometimes you need multi-ethnic empires over self-determination. Discuss.
