If you don’t mind all the overblown overgeneralizations, sure, yeah, they’re well written.
I always found it curious that George never bothered with Billy Joel on his old website, though if there’s one classic album I’d have liked to see him get to, it’s Astral Weeks by Van Morrison–I bet George would have been driven nuts by the meandering song structures but he was always letting vocalists be the end all be all of whether or not he liked any given musician or band, and Van was a great singer.
I think I’ve found more bad albums by veteran acts in the years immediately following 1986, than 1986 itself. BUT, I haven’t heard all the supposedly bad 1986 albums.
