is that he was in two of the MST3Ks I’ve seen, Mitchell (a fatass 1975 derivative of Dirty Harry) and Final Justice (mid-1980s actioner about a Texas lawman who goes to another country). They make terrible fun of him much of the time, lots of fat jokes and belching noises from the MST3K guys. Supposedly Joe Don found out and wasn’t terribly happy about any of this. Mitchell at least was worth watching.
I’ve never seen the original Walking Tall. I was considering watching the 1980s Edge Of Darkness though, which a website that I frequent (moria.co.nz) gave a five-star rating to and said it was one of the best anti-Thatcher things to come out in that era. (The Mel Gibson remake got horrible reviews so I’ll probably skip.)
It was weird that he played a Bond villain and then a Bond ally immediately when they switched to Brosnan. That was 30 years ago BTW…
His Bond character has to be contacted by radio in the “Caverns” level of GoldenEye 007 on the 00 agent difficulty setting, and it’s REALLY hard to do that part, I’m mentioning it because I’m trying to do it right now.
I had forgotten he was still alive and am amazed a guy with his weight problems made it to almost 90. The last thing I saw him in was that godawful Dukes Of Hazzard movie, one of the worst films I’ve ever seen.
