the boards traditionalists are it’s only posters. We’ve tried both forum style and reddit (which still exists) boards in the past and they both flopped even when we had many more active users than now. Pretty sure there was a facebook group at one time (which nobody liked cus they had to use real names). There’s even a music babble discord (which also failed to catch on). With the slow pace of the board this format works best. it’s the shared history of the small group of longtime users that keeps this place together more than anything else anyway. not that i’m against new people joining but if you added in loads of newbies this place might as well not be babble anymore.
