Okay, I’ve tried and tried to avoid turning into a crusty old man yelling at clouds about millennials and Gen Z, but that is fucking disgusting. And hey, I can think of Beach Boys songs I hate a lot more than “Kokomo” (the chorus is slightly catchy) and for that matter I can even sympathize–before I was about 17 or so and hadn’t really gotten into classic pop, the idea that the Beach Boys were “Mozart on a surfboard” and not some corny old nostalgia act from 500 years ago that did songs that ended up in Sonic commercials would have seemed bizarre to me, and I wouldn’t have understood at that age what was so great about “Good Vibrations,” though I certainly would not have liked “Kokomo” (and I WAS familiar at such a young age with “Summer Of Love” because I’d seen the Baywatch episode it turns up in). But it’s still disgusting to hear you tell me that.

I would have guessed as a teen that the most famous Beatles song was “I Want To Hold Your Hand.”

I hate to tell you this, but I bet there are kids who probably DO think “Squeeze Box” is the most notable Who song…or at least if they didn’t learn about “Won’t Get Fooled Again” from David Caruso one liners on CSI: Miami.
