It’s amusing to imagine ANYTHING with the Heat Man stage in it being thought of as an “easy game,” but that being said, maybe a lot of people only find the disappearing-blocks part of Heat Man’s stage to be the really hard part in the game. I know that the big flying dragon boss in the first Dr. Wily level and the “dripping lava tunnel” at the end piss a lot of people off too. Still, it’s nowhere near as awful as the first Mega Man game, which drove me nuts last time I played it to the point where I don’t even like the fucking thing any longer.

Didn’t MM6 introduce the jet pack that was in MM7 on SNES? I’m a big MM7 defender, it got no love and was released too late in the SNES lifespan. Capcom is a weird, money-grubbing company. I remember Rich B. either trashing MM5 or MM6, I can’t remember which. He also pointed out that some of the X series had awful level design.
