The world does seem to have forgotten my favorite 80s band, the Replacements. Kids seem to respond positively when they actually hear them, but I don’t think the 21st century generation is actively seeking their music out any longer. It doesn’t help that Paul Westerberg has been a recluse since the ’90s, only self-releasing the odd single and once in a blue moon album online.
And I guess you could say they’re a very Gen X band: depressed, sarcastic, apolitically rebellious, apathetic, whatever. Maybe idealistic 21st century boys can’t relate to their couldn’t give a shit slacker attitude.
