Lots of people recognized Starship Troopers as a satire at the time, but lots of people didn’t. Whether or not someone did strongly correlated with whether or not they liked it.
Are you bringing up YA because you knew that Heinlein wrote Starship Troopers to be marketed as a “juvenile” (basically YA) but it was deemed inappropriate for that market and marketed toward the general SF audience? Probably not. You’re probably just calling back to our conversation about S.E. Hinton.
