Eastwood superfan Dave Kehr called A Perfect World the best film of 1993.
So did Cahiers du Cinema.
Andrew Sarris called ranked it #12 for English Language films that year

The Postman is by David Brin, who was one of the big SF authors of the ’80s.

Of course, the world was a different place back then. For example, The Postman was in this issue with Asimov’s

with a George R.R. Martin story that was only 9 pages long.
That cover’s pretty lame, TBH.
