Nope, I was content to watch what we saw in the two-parter. Jeffrey Hunter did pretty well, I thought. I think you advised me not to bother with it ten years ago.
“Tomorrow Is Yesterday” would make an interesting compare and contrast with The Voyage Home.
I rewatched “Arena,” too. Okay, okay–I still don’t think the fight is that great, but I was less bothered by the obvious monster costume and dumb growling noise this time around. The thing is though, I think the parts of the episode BEFORE the Gorn fight are better than those after. And Kirk’s bored reaction to actually meeting the Metron at the end is pretty silly to me. But no, the episode doesn’t deserve comparison to “Spock’s Brain” or “The Alternative Factor”
