I listened to a ton of Beach Boys when I was younger and most of those really bad albums have at least a few decent songs. MIU has “My Diane” which i think is a legit great song tucked away on a mediocre album. “Pitter Patter” is decent as a happy silly song and i think some people like “matchpoint of our love”.
Heard Getcha Back again recently when hearing a bunch of different Beach Boys songs after Brian’s death and it did have pretty good harmonies for the time period, and it sounds nicer these days. The song on there that was a bonus track “male ego” is hilarious. One of those songs where Brian tries to sound like a sexy alpha male but then again maybe its Mike’s shitty lyrics.
LA Light and 1985 album are the worst to me (never heard Summer in Paradise and never will bother with it). Keeping the summer alive and MIU are lame as hell but at least upbeat. Those former two are generally so dull and lifeless which is worse to me. LA also has that awful disco “Here Comes The Night” remake as well (which did grow on me cuz its funny and Carl sounds pretty good! But it’s still lame as hell).
Todd’s Trainwreckords and One hit wonderland are generally really good videos. I love that he covered stuff you don’t see mentioned often from younger people and I remember his videos when I hear about the more lesser known stuff he covered, like “Eve Of Destruction” that one 60s Dylan rip off that was a number 1 hit in 1965 but is totally forgotten now or the one about the shitty last CCR album.
