A nine disc (!! do they even have enough plastic in the world left to make something like that?) reissue of something nobody ever liked to begin with? I mean, did they? Were there gushing reviews from mainstream rock publications around 1972 for that album, or were they souring on Lennon that year just like Sod Runtwistle (Todd Rundgren) did? Who wants such a piece of shit on PHYSICAL MEDIA that they’re willing to pay whatever for? And to think, I sneered at stuff like that reissue of Use Your Illusion!
Speaking of GNR, it looks like that song is going to go the way of “One In A Million,” people trying to edit it out of John’s history after the fact? When Patti Smith dies is someone going to do away with “Rock & Roll N****r”? Because I like that one, unlike the GNR tune. And it’s not gonna work, anyway–there are plenty of people who never forgave Axl for “One In A Million,” although I guess John didn’t get in nearly as much trouble for “Woman Is The…”
