Confessions of a Mask is a thinly veiled coming of age novel about his coming to grips with his homosexuality and the source of that famous “Death and Night and Blood” quote. Which is part of his bizarre interpretation of the Christian imagery of the crucifixion, which he interprets in a sexually charged manner.
