The Real Love original demo (from his anthology) is probably in John Lennon’s top 10 solo song in of itself and I do agree with that

However I do disagree with Free As A Bird. It was an incomplete song in its original demo (John Lennon starts to sing non-words during hte missing lyrics). The Anthology is a significant improvement. It does actually create an illusion of a genuine Lennon/McCartney collaboration in a sense that maybe one of those two will create the bulk of the song but the other songwriter will fill in a lyrics here and there. So having a John sung chorus and a McCartney sung middle 8 with him filling in the lyrics, adding a few modulation/key change that isn’t in the original demo to me substantially improve the song. It really does sound like Lennon/McCartney collaboration (even if it is fake) that makes it interesting.
