I also really enjoy 24 Hour Party People, relentlessly entertaining movie. I watched the commentary with actual Tony Wilson where he points out all the things the movie invented, also very entertaining, and it makes Coogan’s performance more impressive. Sure is mean to A Certain Ratio!

I really like Jackie Brown even though I barely care about the plot, I just enjoy the performances and atmosphere and melancholy. I like how it approaches the idea of middle age, and there are all these characters who are dealing with aging in different ways that you can see in their appearance - Forster’s character basically accepts it with a few touch-ups that he mentions, Jackson’s character adopts this kind of ridiculous one-of-a-kind look that his personality has to match, Keaton has this awkward attempt at looking young and cool that does not work at all, De Niro has just given up and looks even worse when he tries to clean up a little, and Pam Grier clearly takes an immense amount of time to look effortlessly beautiful.
