If you lose the entire album then I think that Bohemian Rhapsody is such a huge part of their legacy that I think their reputation would be lesser without it, but they’d still be a band people remembered pretty well. Maybe their fame wouldn’t transcend Classic Rock Radio the way it does now. For people my age, taking away Rhapsody means losing that scene in Wayne’s World, which was probably what people most associated with with when we were younger. They’d have been succesful hitmakers though.
The Rolling Stones might be the best example of a band that would suffer very little, even if we’d lose some classic songs. The Beatles would still be the biggest band of all time, but depending on which album you pick it might be weirder to try and imagine than The Stones. Is Revolver still the most canonical pick for “best album”? It’s still my favorite, but losing Sgt. Peppers or The White album seems to deform their discography more.
