First song that you remember as a contemporary hit?

That is, you’re fairly sure you became aware of it around the time that it initially became popular.

Inspired by the discussion below, but since this is music related I wanted to give it its own thread.

“Don’t Worry, Be Happy” and “Kokomo” both came out in July, 1988. I was thinking the right answer was Don’t Worry, Be Happy, which I know I remember at that time, but I remember Kokomo always being around but had thought it was a few years older than that.

My parents listened to oldies on the radio, so most of the songs I knew were old. I think that, around that time, other songs from the previous 5 years I’d have known were Born in the USA and Danger Zone.
