I think the totheark videos were really losing steam by the end of season 3, and I bet Troy and Joseph know that–which is why they didn’t revisit that sort of thing this time around–but I think both you and I agree the series in general was losing steam by then anyway. I just would have liked to see more things that the original series didn’t do. These were okay but I don’t know that I’ll be rewatching them much; I obsessively rewatched most of the original series while it was airing. I say it peaked between about #17-#23 of the original season and the totheark entries therein.
As for explanations, reading some of the more dunderheaded takes on Reddit has me reminded that I grew sick of trying to piece together puzzles in movies sometime between when I got too old to really love Donnie Darko any longer and when I realized I didn’t give a shit to explain either The Thing or how the universe works in season 3 of Twin Peaks. Or when I realized that I was only watching LOST for entertainment and was grateful that I’d missed out on obsessive fanboy bullshit by not watching the show until six years after it had finished airing. Hell, there’s been a lot of signposts along the way.
I hope these guys somehow made money off of it, at any rate. God knows they need some of that. But we all do, right Elon?
