I suppose I could understand that in 1992, because any attention Linklater would have been getting for his second film would have had to do with the attention his first film got, but how many beer executives saw Slacker is beyond me. D&C got good reviews in 1993 but it was on TV airings over the course of the next decade and home video that it developed its following, it wasn’t something right away (think how many times Matthew McConaughey has had to remind people that he wasn’t famous until 1996.)
I may have that bit about the Silver Fox label wrong, I’m going to dig through that DVD’s special features soon and see…
