I wouldn’t put off Oppenheimer, it’s a pretty good rundown of that story. It’s not a movie I could see myself getting addicted to, but I’m sort of glad it won all those Oscars and that the public actually went to go see it.
Inception is decent entertainment, but nothing more–it has no soul or meaning whatsoever. If you’ve seen the scene with Joseph Gordon Levitt running around in the spinning room, you’ve seen the best thing in the movie.
Interstellar pissed me off. The emotions in the movie came across as synthetic, and the story was told in an often-baffling manner. It had some breathtaking shots, but it was all leading up to an ending that bordered on deus ex machina. I hate it when people say it’s Nolan’s best movie.
Some of the rest of the Odyssey miniseries is shit. I remember the Scylla/Charybdis part being rather assy. And the villain is played by, uggh, Eric fucking Roberts.
Jason The Argonauts…starred the dude who played Randall Pink Floyd in Dazed And Confused, but that’s all I’d know about it.
I do remember Merlin as being surprisingly decent, and it actually did get good reviews when it came out.
Maybe this will be the last big summer movie I ever see. Who knows.
