Man, I was getting drowsy last night so I paused the Royal Rumble 1996 and put the Caps game on the radio and went to bed and I woke up this morning and resumed it. Steve Austin pre-Stone Cold, with hair and without the goatee (“The Ringmaster”) is a trip.
So I was thinking I was glad I had grown up around this time, when there was enough Internet to go to WWF.com and a Geocities fan site and be ten times better informed than a fan of 1992, but not yet enough Internet to fuxate life? And then I remembered that there was such thing as an away message on AIM, and the Internet used to be a thing you could log in and out of and all of a sudden being born in the mid ’80s seemed to be the ideal time and all of a sudden…
Shit, this is exactly what our parents used to do about the ’70s. Or maybe not, since we really did have the birth of a new technology in its phase as a tool to complement real life
