Somewhere between the days of the Livejournal/Fuck You Crew fights where people would apply under the names of various Babblers just so the FYC could trash your boring tastes in music because you liked Miles Davis instead of Latvian jellycore, and that Heath Ledger fight that you got into, the real Jamie either disappeared or cynically morphed into a different person entirely, going from being a depressed, anti-American left-wing cynic in Iraq/post-9/11 years to being a bitter right-wing cynic by the time Obama was elected. There was no way to tell who was really using his name; on at least two occasions that I can think of, someone came back here posting under the Jamie name and claiming that he had left the board years ago and someone else had been posting as “Jamie.” (As for Derrick, his likely final thread involved posting pro-video-games-are-art arguments under Norville’s name and then leaving in a huff.)

That was just par for the course for those years though. You’re welcome to go look for the real guy on Facebook; I only encounter past Babblers on FB when they post in Prindle’s poll threads, and even then, not that much.

I still would really genuinely like to know if Auberon Suger is still alive, let alone whether or not that was his real name.
