“Attempted sex symbol” was Christgau’s zinger about Nelly Furtado.* This has a good chorus despite the cringey vocal affectations in the verses.

That’s SENORITA Shakira, Mr. Studer. She’s never been married.
“Bad Day” is not a good song but at least it’s blandly generic and forgettable. “You’re Beautiful” on the other hand is one of the worst songs ever written. I sincerely wish that guy had had his throat slit to remove his vocal cords in Kosovo. Thank you for your service Mr. Blunt.
That Gnarls Barkley song is just OK. I remember it vaguely.
Speaking of supermarket songs, “Everybody Wants to Rule the World,” is the jam, isn’t it? It’s been everywhere I shop the past decade.
“SexyBack,” is like KISS level basic and retarded, which probably explains why it was a hit. To think that Britney may have been the brains in that couple. Was 2006 the last year it was still socially acceptable to use that word? People called stuff retarded all the time still in the 90s. The Black Eyed Peas had a big hit around the mid-00s “Let’s Get Retarded in Here”. Best uttered in a Bosstahn accent.
*Sorta agree; she’s a 6 or 7 who thinks she’s a 10. But like you said about Lady Gaga, she has an unconventional charm that’s a relief from all these generically beautiful pop divas - just not for me, even if she’s sorta my brunette type. (And I like Gaga’s looks, btw.) I wish Nelly wasn’t shoving her face in camera every frame; I was already sick of her face before the video ended with her crowd diving.
