I appreciate these posts but

the movies here I care about are movies we’ve talked about alot, plus Jacke Brown Cries and Whispers which I haven’t seen in something like 18 or 20 years. I loved it then. I should rewatch it. I hope I still adore Berman like I used to, because I haven’t revisited his movies in a long time. I did watch Scenes From a Marriage for the first time not too long ago (long version) and I thought it was worthwhile but didn’t love it, but I’m not sure that one ever would have been one of my favorites.

I probably watched most of the Berman I’ve seen from 2005-2008.

It’s been too long since I saw Jackie Brown, but I can at least say that I wish Tarantino made more movies like that.
How many good movies did DeNiro make after that?

Re calling those Eastwood movies Oscar Bait, Eastwood had a hard time getting Million Dollar Baby made, so if he made it to win an Oscar then the studio wasn’t in on it.

I don’t remember that Springsteen album well but I think I liked it the least of his classic albums. Blinded By the Light seems like an attempt to write ’06s Dylan-ish lyrics. Glad he gave up on that. TBH, I find the Manfred Mann version more memorable, regardless of what is actually “better.” I remember some troll article about the “50 Worst Lyricists” built around all sorts of obnoxious cherry picking citing that one.

I have similar thoughts on Stage Fright. If they’d maintained that level in the following albums I’d happily continue to relisten to the entire discography, but it’s not a masterpiece and is really the last one that I care much about.
