Yes has songs from their prog period that I'd know from the radio without being a fan.

Roundabout
Long Distance Runaround

But maybe “Roundabout” was the only real contemporary hit? I’m not old enough to gauge whether these songs would have gotten played all the time in the late 90s without the exposure of Owner of a Lonely Heart. But Owner is the only song from their pop period I remember hearing on the radio.

Those are all songs I’ve heard enough that I’m sure I’d remember them. There’s no Gabriel-era Genesis I’ve heard get that kind of exposure. I have heard Dancing With the Moonlit Knight, but I remember hearing that only after I’d already bought the album.

Also, people I know in real life who actually like Yes are primarily fans of their 70s stuff. People I’ve met who like Genesis just thought Gabriel era stuff was a footnote. His solo career is better known.

Curious to know other people’s impressions, but I’d think Yes would have a decent shot of getting in just on their ’70s catalogue. Peter Gabriel-era Genesis wouldn’t have gotten in.

I wouldn’t know King Crimson without actively having looked into them.

Interesting that Santana’s induction only recognized the original lineup, and not the band from Supernatural. It’s dumb that they didn’t even include the people who played on III and Caravansari though. Who else got in with only two albums?
