That song is from 1988, I know it from their 1980-1990 best-of, which was the first U2 thing I ever bought back in 2000 when I got into the band. I think it’s decent but don’t return to it much; I’ve seen the Rattle & Hum documentary, which was never very well-liked (it made them look pompous) and while I know some songs from the album and like them, I’ll pass on hearing the whole thing for now.

I thought the beautiful chick thing was meant as an homage to Wings Of Desire, which came out the year before the U2 song. They worked with the guy who directed that movie a few years later (Wim Wenders) so there’s that. Wenders also directed the shitty Mel Gibson movie The Million Dollar Hotel, which had a script written by BONO HIMSELF DUDE. But nobody liked the movie at all and Mel Gibson infamously called it “boring as a dog’s ass.”

Yes, U2 are miserably uncool and have been so for about a quarter century now.
