The Clash of the Goths

In the middle of Rip It Up’s chapter on the Siouxsie/Cure/Birthday Party/Killing Joke/Cult etc. Goth wing of post-punk, I ran into this band I’ve never heard of. Not bad, pretty stirringly anthemic even if the vocals are operatically strident. If the sound/look owes an obvious debt to Sandinista! era Clash - well, Mick Jones did produce the album.

Onto the Big Music chapter. 81-82-83-84! U2, Waterboys, and the Teardrop EXPLODES! Maybe it’ll change my mind about Echo & the Bunnymen, a band I’ve always found mediocre.
