I like Metroid II but it’s been ruined for me by the illegal remake, AM2R.

It’s weird to me that Metroid II has such a reputation for being difficult to navigate. Maybe I just played it more patiently than most people, but they two times I played through it by myself I think I found all but 1 or 2 of the items, maybe 3. I didn’t get anywhere close to that on a first playthrough of any of the other games. It’s easy to methodically search everything with the Spider Ball and miss almost nothing. It’s certainly not as demanding as finding all the items you need to beat the game in the first two Zelda games (that only applies to the 2nd quest in the original).
