Imagination is not great but it’s not as bad as some say either. The adult contemporary production is a pretty huge detriment but ignoring that it has some highlights. The title track and “Lay Down Burden” are good tunes. It’s also got a few remakes that aren’t as good as other versions but they are better than the In Over My Head remakes.
When thinking about Brian I often wonder how things would have gone had his brothers had things more together. Carl and Dennis were Brian’s biggest supporters in the band, and if they weren’t almost as screwed up as Brian they could have been the ones to help encourage Brian’s weirdo creativity without letting him fall off the rails completely and letting Mike Love take control of the band. I would have loved to hear what a theoretical “Wilson Brothers” album could have been had Dennis not passed away.
