I guess Clapton paid Townshend back by appearing in the Tommy film a year later. I did know 461 was a huge best seller.
Well I guess they were even after that.
In the ’70s Hendrix documentary movie (which you wouldn’t need to see even if you liked him more than you do) they talk about how they bonded over feeling threatened by him.
The Dead song I really like is “Cosmic Charlie,” the musical equivalent of an R. Crumb comic (a good one, anyway.)
That’s an interesting take. They actually stopped playing that song live after the mid-70s. It’s been played by the post-Jerry iterations though.
