As I understand it, the issue is that it's supposed to make it's answers sound as much like real answers as it can.

So if it has and has correctly digested the relevant information, you’ll get correct answers. If it doesn’t, it just makes shit up. That Google AI is the same, which is even more ridiculous. At least the Google AI always provided links, and ChatGPT does now, at least sometimes. It would be less complicated if it just quoted the portions of text it thinks are relevant.
