They fix most of the issue with the lost levels in Mario All Stars where they removed the 8 times completion and allows level select.

My intention is that Mario Lost Levels has all the elements of being a “bad game” due to the level design being unfair due to the prankster nature. However by the end, the game has evolved especially with modern technology as one of the most unique, original and important artistic statement in the Mario series and video game history in general as video game as an expression of comedy. The game is simultaneously a bad game and a masterpiece. Perhaps the bad game makes the game a masterpiece.

It’s the video game equivalent of the player character as the Three Stooges or Mr. Bean or Homer Simpson getting injured.

However maybe I spent too much of the essay writing about the bad game element and only briefly about how the game is a masterpiece in artistic expression and as a result leading to alot of people defending the game from the bad game criticism
