Grew up with their greatest hits and that still remains a go to if i want to listen to the band. Their classic era isn’t really that long (four albums, Crime, Crisis, Quietest Moments, & Breakfast) so it’s pretty easy to digest their output. I was more a fan of Roger Hodgeson’s songs but Rick was still a key part of the band and its a shame the two were never able to bury the hatchet while they were still alive. A proper Supertramp reunion could have been a big deal.
The first record by each after they split were both pretty good too. Eye of The Storm by Roger is as good as any supertramp album, and Brother Wear You Bound is way better than it could have been considering the circumstances, both are proggier than Supertramp usually got too.
I’ve still never heard their first two records when they were still figuring out their sound. Should get on that.
Their live album/video Paris is one of their best projects too. I’d recommend that as well. Really great energy and it captures the band at the ideal time on the Breakfast tour when they were at the top of their game but before things fell apart.
