I haven’t seen the Scream sequels. I’ve seen:
The Last House on the Left (1972)
The Hills Have Eyes (1977)
A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
Deadly Friend (1986)
The Serpent and the Rainbow (1988)
The People Under the Stairs (1991)
Wes Craven’s New Nightmare (1994)
Red Eye (2005)
Okay, but does the Night Of The Living Dead bit show the intestines being PULLED OUT?
No. This might be comparably gory, and I’ve seen it, but it’s worse than Last House on the Left and the gore shots all don’t match and were obviously inserted later

The “Terror Mask” referred to on the poster was some carboard blinder on a stick you could use to cover your eyes.
It came out in Europe before Last House came out at all.
Yeah, the second half of 28 Days is weaker. Interesting to see Eccleston as a villian after I knew him from Doctor Who. I didn’t remember that he as in it.
Joe Bob Briggs discussed Ebert’s review in his commentary and claimed that the guys laughing at the rape scenes in ISOYG were doing it to distance themselves from the ugliness of what was happening.
I’m guessing that it was a mix.
I don’t think that Pitt ruins 12 Monkeys, which I think is a great movie. But I really don’t like him in it.
Wikipedia lists some contemporary accolades for Scorsese. Remember that he was a critics darling for a long time before reaching the level of popularity he has now.
