i have soften up on country music recently

i am not too sure you were here when i wrote a long post about my experience doing the Willie Nelson discography listening which i ended up thoroughly enjoying

the bridge was that although country music seemed like an alien genre of music, Willie Nelson is an excellent guitarist and my ability to appreciate his guitar playing ended up allowing me to appreciate country music songwriting.

i am now a fan of Hank Williams as well. His career is interesting as along with country music Move it on Over - is proto rock and roll/Bill Haley and some of his american indian influence such as Kaw-Liga seems like a proto-drone that is reminiscent of Kink’s See My Friends and 60’s psychedelia.

regarding Flying Burrito Brothers i love how you have a country song and then suddenly there is a guitar solo with a guitar tone that’s wouldn’t sound out of place if it was in Revolver or Sgt Peppers. their live performances of covers of both country music and rock and roll staple(ie chuck berry) is interesting with that synthesis in mind

i think their first three albums (Parsons/Hillman years) are the only studio album worth listening and live performamce from that era
