I rewatched Straw Dogs recently and the Criterion DVD has a 52 minute documentary about the film where Susan George talks about Peckinpah’s handling of the rape scene which does not make him look terribly good. I’m reminded of Jon Walter saying about separating the art from the artist, “Sam Peckinpah was a near-worthless human being and I still like some of his films. Celine collaborated with the Nazis and I still like some of his stuff.”
