Last time I read about Jonestown I read that jungle overgrowth had pretty much buried the old Jonestown site. But it’s not that shocking when you consider how many people want to visit Chernobyl/Pripyat!

I did not actually know many of the details of what happened at Jonestown until a few years ago (didn’t know at all about the dead Congressman.) I was going to watch the movie where Powers Boothe won an Emmy for playing Jones, but only ended up watching the mass suicide scene (it’s pretty effective.) There’s also the 1980 movie Guyana: Cult Of The Damned, an exploitation film that Ebert gave zero stars to (same year as Caligula and I Spit On Your Grave.) But I didn’t watch that beyond the trailer for it.

It was Flavor Aid, dude. Not Kool Aid. Get it right.
