I didn’t realize how much bland adult contemporary music topped the charts in 1994. I thought grunge rock was what the kids were listening to back then. That was high school for me, and I was a rocker. So I guess guitar rock was all I paid attention to. I do remember how popular Ace of Bass was (wtf?!).
What about Live, the Offspring and Green Day? I wasn’t a fan, but kids at my high school loved them. Okay, Throwing Copper by Live wasn’t all that bad.
Loser by Beck is good (Mellow Gold is a masterpiece). Shine by Collective Soul was hip and sort of meh. Yeah, that Meatloaf song sucked. It was “popular,” somehow, but all the kids made fun of it.
